EdTech Tool Uses:iTALC (which stands for 'Intelligently Teaching And Learning with Computer') is open source software that enables teachers to remotely monitor and control students' computers on a network. Designed specifically for use in schools, iTALC offers a number of helpful features for working in an IT lab with a group of students, For instance, it can be used in 'overview mode' to view the screen of each pupil computers in real-time in a small preview window, and 'demonstration mode' to broadcast the teacher's screen to all of the pupil's computers in real-time. The teacher can also remotely control pupil computers to provide assistance, take a snapshot of any pupil's screen from the teacher's PC, remotely lock pupil computers, send a message to any pupil's screen, and remotely power on/off and reboot computers. iTALC is completely free and is available for Windows and Linux computers (and can be used in environments with a mix of these).
