| EdTech Tool Uses: | InstaGrok is a research engine intended for academic settings to allow students to research a topic and see results in an interactive concept map (called a “grok”). The grok displays a tidy menu for the topic in question, with buttons to display key facts, websites, videos, images and concepts, and a helpful 'notes' tab which the student can use to store their own notes. One of the most attractive features of InstaGrok is the visual nature of the site, which clearly shows relationships between the current topic and other relevant topics via a concept map structure (and students can then click on any of these other concepts to learn more about that and see the related concepts for it, etc.). Students can customise their grok by pinning source material or adding notes and photos, and can then share it with others for collaboration. The site also offers a 'journal' that students can use for their research, and quizzes on a range of topics. There is also a helpful 'difficulty bar' which can be manipulated to increase the complexity of the results for different age groups. |
