EdTech Tool Uses: | VoiceThread is an online application which enables asynchronous conversation around a central piece of media (image, video, document, etc. - over 50 types of media can be used). Users can comment on VoiceThread slides using microphone, webcam, text, audio-file upload or telephone. VoiceThreads can be set to private, shared with specific users or open to all. The central media file can be zoomed and annotated. An interesting feature for use in the classroom is 'Identities'; this allows the teacher to set up multiple aliases for one account which can then be used by individual students to comment on the image/video/etc. in question. VoiceThread can also integrate with most major Learning Management Systems (including Moodle, Blackboard and Sakai) through LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) functionality. You can also enable access to VoiceThread through a number of third-party services (such as Google Apps and LDAP). |
